Condition
At Tialey Vintage we don't bother with vintage clothing or items that are in poor condition. Our items are hand picked and carefully inspected. Items may have been hand washed, dry cleaned or spot treated though it is recommended that items be cleaned by the appropriate method before wearing. Our clothing is authentic vintage which means it has usually been worn before. Although most of our items are excellent the chart below explains our condition ratings. If you have specific questions about a particular item, please ask before purchase. We want you to be happy with your purchase and shop with us again.
  • Mint - no visible imperfections or flaws. Sometimes unworn with tags.
  • Near Mint - one or two tiny issues, may have a hidden repair or barely seen spot, for example.
  • Excellent - a few minor imperfections, very wearable.
  • Great - well loved and enjoyed, showing small signs of its vintage age.

Sizing
There is no industry standard for number or letter sizes. Also vintage sizes were significantly different from today's. To insure a proper fit we list measurements in inches. We provide a letter size only as an estimate to make browsing our store easier.

You will want to use a tape measure, do not rely on the number stated on your jeans or your bra. You can also compare the measurements of a similar garment. Measure across the bust/chest of an item, armpit to armpit and double. When measuring a body, you will want the fullest part of the bust wearing your usual undergarments. Waist measurements are at the natural waist, just about level with your belly button. Length is from the top of shoulder to bottom. Sleeves from shoulder seam to cuff.

Once you have determined your measurements you can easily find items for a proper fit. For example, if your bust measures 34 inches you will want to find clothing that measures 34 inches or more based on the desired fit of a particular garment. An item measuring 34 inches would be a snug fit. Remember to leave room for movement and allow for bulkier clothing under coats or jackets. We are always happy to provide further measurements or answer questions regarding a proper fit.

For your shopping convenience

The following measurements are used by us to give you an estimated size of our vintage garments. This will help you in finding specific items within your proper fit. Remember, these are the measurements of the garment not the body they will fit. If you would like to view for example all dresses that are between a 32 and 34 inch bust measurement, simply search using: Small Dress. By using only Small in the search you will see results of all items that are considered small.
